Minimum Turnaround Time

The standard minimum turnaround time between consecutive calls (“Daily Rest”) is 11 consecutive hours.

If the Artiste is given a Reduced Daily Rest period, the Producer may offer an extended rest period in lieu of an overtime payment. Where it is not practical to provide additional rest time, the Artiste shall be paid an overtime rate for each half-hour or part thereof, subject to a minimum payment equivalent to one hour of overtime.

Cancellation Fees

• No payment shall be made if the production cancels at any time up to 12:00 midday on the day before the call.

• If a call is cancelled between 12:00 midday and 15:00 on the day before, a cancellation fee of 50% of the agreed rate is payable.

• If a call is cancelled after 15:00 on the day before, the full negotiated rate for that day shall be payable.

United Kingdom – PACT EQUITY RATE CARD (Outside of 40 Mile Radius)

1st January 2024 – 31st December 2025 Rates

This agreement is commonly used for TV productions filmed beyond a 40-mile radius from Charing Cross. Compensation is structured based on factors such as day and night work, shifts, additional fees, as well as travel and meal allowances.

If the minimum break between consecutive calls (referred to as “Daily Rest”) is reduced to less than 11 continuous hours, the Supporting Artist will receive overtime pay for every half-hour or portion thereof that the rest period is shortened. This is subject to a minimum payment equal to one hour of overtime.

United Kingdom – Commercial Rates

These rates are based on a 10-hour working day, which includes a one-hour lunch break and includes holiday pay. Any production extending past midnight is classified as a night shoot. Night shoots are compensated at one and a half times the rates listed below. Payment is determined bythe type of role, such as extra, walk-on, or featured.

STANDARD DAY RATES:
10 Hours inc 1 hour Lunch.
Buyouts for featured roles to be negotiated.

Background Artist Definition:

A background artist is not required to deliver a distinct character portrayal or speak any scripted dialogue, though background noise or speech is not considered dialogue in this context. Their role is to enhance the authenticity and atmosphere of a scene, either individually or as part of a group.

They may be dressed in attire relevant to their assigned role, profession, or trade, as chosen by the producer or advertiser. The director may instruct them to move or react as needed within the scene. Crowd sounds, including group singing of well-known songs where lyrics do not need to be memorised, may also be included.

Walk-On Definition:

A walk-on artist is a recognisable, non-speaking performer who acts individually in a medium shot or closer. While background speech or noise does not qualify as speaking in this context, a walk-on may be required to perform a distinct function related to their role, profession, or trade. Their movements are directed individually, and they have a visual interaction with a featured actor performing their role as instructed. However, if the walk-on’s presence were removed, the overall
storyline or narrative would remain unaffected.

To determine whether a role is essential in conveying a commercial’s story, a useful test is to consider whether the scene would still make sense without the performer. If the role can be removed without disrupting the storytelling, the performer is not a Featured Visual Artist. If their contribution is integral to the narrative, then they are classified as a Featured Visual Artist.

Featured Visual Artist Definition:

A Featured Visual Artist is a performer whose individual contribution is crucial in communicating the commercial’s story to the audience. Their performance is assessed based on these guidelines to determine its significance in the overall presentation of the commercial. If the artist’s presence is essential to the storytelling, they are classified as a Featured Visual Artist.
